My almost 6-year-old and 2nd grader had a great time practicing their handwriting with the copywork color packet! It was a fun change of pace for them.
Not only did they practice writing and recognizing color words, they were reminded about sentence structure, capitalization, and punctuation. Also, my second grader had some practice with nouns, verbs and adjectives.
I love it when worksheets or printables span a couple of grades and stages!
Because they enjoyed the Color Words copywork, I decided to make my Kindergartner a set of worksheets using the Pre-Primer Dolch list.
She needs quite a bit of practice with a few of those words, and this is a fun way to help her with that.
ETA May 2022: This packet was originally published in April 2015. I have updated the entire with fresh fonts and graphics. I left the original post with a few tweaks. Please re-download the newest version if you have purchased it in the past!

Handwriting Worksheets: Pre-Primer Dolch Sight Word Sentences
The entire Pre-Primer Dolch Sight Words packet includes a whopping 76 pages. You’ll find 2 different sentences for each Pre-Primer word.
For example, the 2 sentences for the word here include:
→ He wants to sit here.
→ Here is the lost dog!
This packet includes all Pre-Primer Dolch words, excluding the words ‘a’ and ‘I’.
My Kindergartner will work on 1 page each day, and my 2nd grader will complete 3-5 pages each day.
The focus for my Kindergartner is the actual Pre-Primer word and understanding that the word is used in a sentence.
My 2nd grader is working on capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. She also determines the noun, verb, and adjective (if there is one) in each sentence. She is working on proficiency with these handwriting worksheets.
Each sentence is intentionally simple as to not overwhelm them with words on a page. Also, it’s an extra bit of simple reading practice for my Kindergartner.
Lastly, each page includes a picture that correlates to the sentence. I intentionally left the picture as black and white for those kiddos that love to color!
