The Baby is Here!

Hi Friends!  I am so excited to share the news that our newest Sweet One is here!

And it’s a BOY!

Since we don’t find out the sex of our babies before birth, I was shocked of course that he’s a boy! I was leaning towards a girl, but I should have known better.  My inclinations about boy versus girl are always wrong – 5 out of 5 times!

Harrison Lloyd Hill was born on Saturday, February 11th, and is nothing but precious.  He melts my Mama Heart.

He weighed 7 pounds and 14 ounces and was 22 inches long.  You know how quickly babies change, as his little face already looks completely different than in his first few days.

He’s getting a double chin and his face has rounded out.  So sweet!

I had a really tough labor – the hardest of any of my babies – and I wasn’t mentally prepared for that.  So recovery has been a bit difficult, but I have finally felt somewhat normal yesterday and today.

Also, my husband had to go right back to work the day after I got home, so that was an added element of difficulty.  Thankfully, I have dear-to-my-heart parents and in-laws who have helped and encouraged me the past 2 weeks.   I am very blessed!

I also have 4 older children who are very capable.  They can fix their own breakfast and lunch if necessary, wash clothes, and even get the house (mostly) clean.

This is such a different experience than my first go-around with babies.  My others are all 2 years or less apart, and it was a busy time.  My oldest was only 5 1/2 when my #4 was born.  I will admit, though, that I loved it when they were all little, even though they were all needy.

However, this season in time is wonderful in a completely different way.  I have someone that can hold the baby safely while I take a shower or walk on the front porch for a mental break.  Plus, it’s so neat to see how my older children are just in love with this new one.  They each adore him!

Harrison is nursing and sleeping well, and is nothing but a true bundle of joy.  In fact, my oldest said, “Mama, he has brought so much joy to our family, and he doesn’t even know it yet.”

Such sweet words from one brother to another.

I don’t often write super personal posts about my family or share pictures, but we can hardly contain our excitement.  It’s so neat to have a baby in the house again. 🙂
