I am so happy to be back with another video this week!
If you’ve been following along with me on You Tube the past few weeks, you know that I post a new video at the beginning of each week, 3 to 4 times a month.
This past week, I co-hosted a family reunion and I spent some time at the beach with my extended family, so I didn’t have the opportunity to record a new video.
But I am thrilled to say that I am back to You Tube this week, answering a reader’s question.
A few weeks ago, a reader asked me to describe my routine for taking care of myself each day. How I meet my own basic needs while taking care of my family and home and homeschooling my children.
That’s a good question!
I’m so glad she asked, because I’m always willing to answer questions pertaining to how I mother or take care of my home, or in this case, take care of myself.
How I Take Care of Myself as a Homeschool Mama
We all know that mothers are generally not the best at taking care of themselves – present company included. We’re so interested in making sure that the people around us are fed, changed, loved, and clothed, that we often gloss over our own needs.
And while this is often the case with mothers in general, I believe this occurs regularly with homeschool moms.
I, however, have found that if I can consistently take care of 4 basic issues for myself each day, I am a much more gentle, encouraging, helpful, loving mother to my kiddos.

Another Resource for Homeschool Moms
I mentioned another resource in this video:
→ What Bible Time Looks Like in Our Homeschool (take a small peek at what my own Quiet Time looks like each day)
Veronica
I watched this during our afternoon Quiet time. The Quiet part should be in “quotes” though…haven’t quite figured out how to have it actually be “quiet” yet 😛 Anyway, I enjoyed your vlog post. It was encouraging and jogged a lot of ideas on some things I could do to take better care of myself. Daily Bible reading is a huge priority for me as well but I would love to get back into reading early in the day instead of just “whenever”. It really helps me to refresh on “the big picture” before I jump into all the little details of the day.

Thank you for this video! I have just started homeschooling and feel like I’m such a wreck! Thank you for the words of inspiration and good ideas.

Oh I am certain you are not a wreck, despite what it feels like! The beginning of homeschooling certainly feels overwhelming at times!
I had 4 under 6 at one time, also! Those were VERY busy days. Give yourself LOTS and lots of grace, Mama. 🙂

Thank you for these videos. I love them. Maybe add getting enough sleep at night such as at least 7 hours a night. Being drained before schooling or parenting is hard…sleep. : ) I remember not napping in college (while everyone else was) and a couple months into my freshman year I realized why I was sleeping thru all my 730am classes LOL I needed afternoon naps like everyone else. I don’t take afternoon naps now but I sure enjoy the quiet time from 1-3 that we try to implement in my home. My 4 YO still naps at that time and my 6 YO watches a movie or plays outside in the fenced in backyard while I read, check email, sip tea etc. I also try to take 1 night a month to go out by myself or with a girl friend just to get away from school…kid conversations etc.

YES! Sleep IS so important, isn’t it? I’m so glad you left this reminder! xoxo
