Young learners need a variety of phonics practice in the early years of Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Even if you have children who read easily, they still need ample amounts of phonics practice.
I made the mistake of not solidifying phonics with one of my early readers, and it created a multitude of problems many years down the line! I had to do a lot of work to undo the lack of phonics instruction.
So don’t make my mistake – teach phonics consistently through 2nd grade (at least!) even if you have a bright child and reading comes easily.
Add this packet of Blends Writing Practice Worksheets to your list of phonics activities. A nice variety of worksheets and hands-on activities are perfect for consistent phonics practice.

Blends Writing Practice Worksheets
This set of Blends Writing Practice Worksheets includes 24 different printable worksheets, each focusing on a particular blend.
Definition of a blend: A combination of two or more letters in which each letter retains its own sound. As I tell my kiddos, “You can still hear the sound of each letter if you say it slowly.”
This is different from a digraph, which is also called a consonant team.
Definition of a digraph: A combination of two or more letters in which a new phonics sound is created. I also tell my kiddos, “You cannot hear each letter make its own sound. The two or more letters make a brand new sound.” An example of this is s and h are said /sh/. Or c and h are said /ch/.
Blends are much easier to teach in my experience!
Each page features 4 different pictures that begin with the featured blend.
For example, the blend bl shows pictures of a blender, blocks, a girl blowing out a candle, and a blimp.
Your student can read and then trace the word on the first line, and practice writing the word independently on the second line.
Blends include: bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr, sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, scr, spl, spr, str
