Book of the Week: Corduroy

Book of the Week is a new weekly feature at Mama’s Learning Corner.  This series was  born out of a search to help my 6 year-old daughter move out of the early reader stage.

Each week, I choose a new-to-us picture book.  I then make 16 printable cards with words specific to the book.

We go over the cards together, a couple each day, and my daughter  independently finds the words in the chosen book.

This week’s book is the all-time favorite Corduroy!

Corduroy is a classic, one that my girls never grow tired of.

Each day, I choose 5-7 cards from the stack for my daughter to find in the story.  I rotate the cards each day, so she’ll end up learning all 16 words by the end of the week.
