Copywork: “Where liberty dwells…” by Benjamin Franklin

In addition to Scripture and poems, I like to use quotes by famous Americans to spice up our copywork time.

Yes, we use Handwriting Without Tears for our handwriting most days, but the kids and I both need a change of pace when it comes to practicing what we learn!

Liberty and freedom are frequent topics here at the Hill House.  I want my children to understand – in kid-friendly terms, of course – that our freedom was bought with a price.  Men and women fight hard for us every single day to keep the freedoms we have here in America.

This quote by Benjamin Franklin is yet another opportunity to be grateful for the freedom that America offers!
