I’ll admit: I love back-to-school shopping. New pencils, notebooks, crayons and folders just can’t be beat.
But I also have 4 little people ages 6 and under. So finding the time (and energy!) to go shopping for school supplies is a tough task.
This year, I’ve done quite a bit of back-to-school shopping online. With so many huge discounts by online retailers, it just makes sense for me to shop from the ease of my laptop at this stage in the game.
These are a few of the things I’ve purchased to start out our homeschool year:
Laminating Sheets:
I run through a ton of laminating sheets, using them for bulletin board items, flash cards and the occasional set of manipulatives. This package of 100 Laminator Pouchesshould last until Christmas.
Pencils:
There are some things in life that I am a die-hard fan of. Without a doubt, one of those is Ticonderoga Pencils . They call themselves “The Best Pencils in the World” and I couldn’t agree more. They always sharpen beautifully and never get stuck in the pencil sharpener. The erasers actually erase without leaving a nasty mark on the paper. I buy little cute-sy pencils for stocking stuffers and such, but Ticonderogas are our everyday pencil.
It seems silly to be such a fan of a pencil. But these truly are the best I’ve found.
Do-A-Dots:
My girls love crafts! One of their favorite things to use during their preschool time are Do-A-Dot. I can’t even tell you the hours of enjoyment they’ve had using their Dots. Although I was skeptical, I purchased the Do-A-Dot Rainbow Trail Book for them to share. They loved it. There are several in the series, so next they will tackle Do-A-Dot Zoo Animals. Just to keep things fresh for them, I’ve purchased the Do-A-Dot Shimmers Pack to try. It keeps them occupied during our school day when I need to do a more intense lesson with my oldest and lets their imaginations run wild in the process. It’s win-win for everyone!
Where to Buy Back-to-School Supplies?
I try to buy all of the supplies I need at the beginning of the year so I can take advantage of the huge back-to-school discounts. Here are a few of the spots I used to grab a good deal:
If you need construction paper, glue sticks, scissors, markers, Tempra paint, water colors, pipe cleaners or bead buckets, Discount School Supply is the place to click. They have several good deals running right now:
- Clearance Blow Outs
- If your order totals $79 after all discounts have been applied, they offer free US shipping:
Educational Warehouse has a large craft section as well, in addition to bulletin board supplies and puzzles that my girls just love.
- For a limited time, you can get 15% off of your online order by using the code WEB15 at checkout.
Aside from curriculum, what do you consider to be essential items in your homeschool?
