I am admittedly a little intimidated when it comes to teaching art in my homeschool. I’ve used several great ebooks over the last couple of years to give my children some exposure to art, and we’ve had lots of fun.
So I am thrilled to try chalk pastels with my children this school year!
Tricia from Hodgepodge published A Simple Guide to Chalk Pastels at the beginning of the year and she’s just published Chalk Pastels Through the Seasons!
After browsing around a ton of homeschool catalogs and websites (not to mention Pinterest), I settled on Hodgepodge’s chalk tutorials.
There are several things that appeal to me about this particular art curriculum:
– Chalk Pastels are forgiving for those of us who might not have much art experience.
– Chalk Pastels are easily adaptable to a variety of ages – from my 2 1/2 Red Head, up to my 8 year old…and even up to me!
– Chalk Pastels aren’t expensive, so the start-up costs are within our homeschool budget
My favorite parts about Chalk Pastels Through the Seasons?
- Just 3 items are needed to get started: the ebook, paper, and chalk
- It’s open and go for mom – no planning (…and the homeschool mom crowd cheers!)
- At 18 lessons, each lesson is less than 45 cents!
- Lessons are only 10-15 minutes, which is just perfect for my wiggly household
