My children always loved little printable booklets. If you could color them, that made it even more delightful! Download this Going to the Dentist Booklet Printable, find some crayons or colored pencils, and enjoy talking about the going to the dentist!
While my children were not fearful of the dentist, I know that this is a challenge for many parents. In scary situations, I find that children can handle things a bit better when they know what to expect.
This Going to the Dentist Booklet will do just that!

If you have children that are reading or starting to read, you can use this booklet for a quick phonics lesson.
Choose a word that your child would find difficult to read or spell and go over each sound of the word.
For example, this is how I would review the word ‘dentist’ with my child:
- Show that dentist is divided into 2 syllables and these are considered closed syllables because the vowel has a consonant behind it.
- Both syllables contain short vowels. Then review all short vowel sounds.
- The ST at the end of the word is a consonant blend. Brainstorm other words that end in /st/ and more words that begin with /st/. I would also have my child read through the list of ST words in Classical Phonics.
