I’m so excited to share with you the second video of my current You Tube season! I actually posted it to You Tube earlier this week, but I’m just now finding time to write a post about it here at Mama’s Learning Corner.
How do I know what to teach my child in our homeschool?
Oh my. I get this question almost daily.
In those early years of homeschooling – whether you’re starting your homeschool in Kindergarten or in 5th grade or in 9th grade – creating learning goals can be overwhelming.
Where does a homeschool mama even start?
This was my exact question over 7 years ago when we began homeschooling my oldest child.
How do I know what to teach my child in our homeschool?
There are several resources out there to help homeschoolers determine what learning goals should be. I’ve listed my favorites in the video!
Take a listen and then let me know how you determine what you’ll teach your child during your homeschool year.

So helpful! I just decided recently that I didn’t want to do as much desk work with my 8yr old. And I had no idea where to start! I ordered the book with the checklists and I cannot wait for it to come in the mail. Thank you.

Hi Wendy! I’m sorry that I didn’t see your email when you first sent it! So forgive this late reply.
The beauty of homeschooling is that you can do it any way you want. 🙂
I’ll be honest that there are SO many “methods” of how to homeschool those early years that it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what to actually do on a day to day basis.
I would ponder the goals you want to achieve for your 5yo – want to teach her to read? work on math each day? Make sure you include living books? Make sure she enjoys time outside each day? Is nature study important?
Figure out what those first 3-4 goals are and then base your daily decisions off of those.
Hope that helps!
