I have really enjoyed making these Sequencing Activities packets for my 1st grader, as we work our way through this year’s Christmas School. Many of the activities in this worksheet packet are a great fit for him, while others will need to be tucked away until next year.
Have you used these packets in your homeschool or classroom this Christmas season? If so, tell me all about it below in the comments! I always love to read how others utilize different activities in their particular setting.
This sequencing set includes the following themes. Make sure you take a look at all of the packets!
– How to Buy a Christmas Tree
– How to Decorate a Christmas Tree

How to Make Cookies Sequencing Worksheets
This packet of Sequencing Activities focuses on putting an event in sequential order of time. In this case, your Kindergartner, First Grader, or Second Grader is making cookies!
This is a fun sequencing activity for the Christmas season or anytime it’s Baking Time!
This type of practice is perfect for ordering events based on time.
The transitional words first, next, then, and last are used to help students place the events in the correct order.
Note that the wording of the sentences are intentionally similar across this entire printable activity to help instill fluency and familiarity.
This Sequencing Activities packet includes 6 different activities:
1.) How to Make Cookies Reader – Cut the pages and place the pages in the correct order. Then read the mini booklet and color if desired.
Note that the last page includes a set of directions for your child to complete, so make sure you leave that OUT of the booklet. Don’t staple it in, as it is much easier to complete if the half-page is beside the booklet.
2.) How to Make Cookies Posters – Place these colored posters on the wall to help increase a print-rich environment, or consider them large “cards” to arrange on the table in the correct order.
You could also staple these posters down the side and create a large Teacher Book if you’re using this in a classroom or co-op setting.
3.) How to Make Cookies Sequencing Cards – Cut out each card, along with the transition word labels. Have your child place the cards in the correct order with the matching transition word. Then have him tell the events of the story to you orally.
I also included the labels ‘second’ and ‘third’ if you would like to use those for this activity.
This is also a great activity to have your child’s imagination run wild with what takes place at each step! Have your child elaborate – What kind of cookies are you making? Are these cookies for a particular event, or are you making them just because? With whom will they share their cookies? What is your child’s favorite cookie?
4.) How to Make Cookies Tracing Sentences – Have your child trace each of the given sentences describing each step of the cooking making process.
Take the time to point out capital letters, punctuation, transition words, consonant blends, vowel teams, difficult vocabulary words, and any other teachable points you see!
Make sure you talk about the difficult word ‘dough‘. The vowel team ough makes the long o sound. Words that contain silent letters are always more challenging!
Also, the word ‘ingredients’ is a long and difficult word. Practice syllabication with this word, and this is a wonderful word to practice “saying a word for spelling” if that is a helpful method for your young readers and spellers.
5.) How to Make Cookies Writing Page – Use the picture prompts to write sentences independently about making cookies.
6.) How to Make Cookies Cut and Paste Activity – Cut out each of the pictures and glue in the correct order. Then use the word bank to complete each sentence.
