Johnny Appleseed Coloring Pages

For years, my girls loved COLORING!  If we were studying a topic and I couldn’t find coloring pages to add, I usually made a set myself.  This was the case when we studied Johnny Appleseed many years ago when all of my children were elementary age – and before we had our #5!

I usually combined my girls with history, science, and literature in those younger days.  During our Apple Unit Study, we would spend all week learning and researching apples and Johnny Appleseed.  The fall always has some of my favorite unit studies for the younger years!

This year, my Kindergartner and I will read many books about Johnny Appleseed.  He is not old enough to work on Johnny Appleseed worksheets, so we will just tuck those away for another year.

Johnny Appleseed Coloring Pages

This is a set of full-page coloring pages featuring pictures related to Johnny Appleseed. Each page contains a sentence or two about Johnny Appleseed’s life.

This coloring page packet contains 11 pages, which includes 1 cover page.

You can print the set all at once, punch holes down the sides and bind together with string to make a booklet.  Or you can place in a 3-prong folder to make a Johnny Appleseed “coloring book.”

Alternatively, you can have your child color one each day while you read aloud about Johnny Appleseed.

Another idea: Use the pages as reading and grammar practice. Remind your young ones what makes a sentence – a complete thought with a capital letter starting the sentence and an end mark.  Have them underline the word ‘apple’ or ‘Johnny’ on each page.  Are there any other words your child recognizes?  See how much they can read to you!

After reading about Johnny Appleseed, use the pages for narration and see how much of the story your child can tell back to you using the coloring picture prompts.

Find Massachusetts on a map.  Which way is west?  Make sure your child knows! If he is not familiar with a map and a compass rose, this is a perfect time to introduce it.
