The July Word Search Packet – did you think I’d forgotten about it?
I have been drowning in choosing our curriculum for the new school year, and WOW did I have my work cut out for me! It’s been all-consuming. I have finally gotten it all settled and we even started school this past week.
You can always find previous years and the current year’s subjects on my homeschool curriculum choices page. We have homeschooled for well over a decade now, so you’ll have to scroll to the bottom of that very long page to find all of the grades.
Now on to the July Word Searches!
ETA July 2024: I am updating each month’s word search packet, so make sure you check in each month to find the latest update! If you have purchased this packet in the past, you can always log into your account and download the newest version.

July Word Search Packet
In the monthly Word Search Packets, I offer 10 different themed word searches pertaining to the particular month.
You can print them all at once and make the searches into a booklet, or choose to use them 1 at the time.
Stick these on a clipboard to keep in the car for those long car rides. Or you could keep a stack on the shelf with a few fun pens for those days when it’s just too hot to be outside.
That would be NOW in North Carolina. Oh the heat index…
Each word in the search can be found horizontally, vertically, or diagonally from left to right.
♥ Also note that the pages are not dated in any way, so you should be able to use them year after year.
In the July Word Search Packet, you’ll find the following topics:
Oh! I forgot to mention that I added in an extra word search in this packet. I try super hard to publish these packets at least 7-10 days before the new month starts, and I totally blew my goal on this one.

Why Word Search Puzzles for Kids?
Are word searches just busy work for kids? I say absolutely not!
Yes, they are fun pages, but word searches can be packed with learning.
Here are a few suggestions:
- These word searches are grouped by theme. Choose a ‘theme for the day’ or have a ‘Fun Friday Theme’ each week. Talk about the theme – read a book, watch an educational You Tube video, and go over each vocabulary word. Ensure your children know what each word means and can use it appropriately in a sentence.
- Do your students need phonics help? Choose a few words from the word bank in the puzzle and focus on a particular phonics concept. For example, choose to work on vowel teams, silent letters (such as a silent k or g), consonant blends, tricky spelling concepts, or types of syllables. The opportunities for phonics mastery are endless here.
➡️ Need help with teaching spelling? Take a look at How I Teach Spelling in Our Homeschool - Use this as a brainstorming activity. After reviewing the vocabulary words together on your chosen puzzle page, brainstorm other words that could be included. Make a list on the board and add to it throughout the day or week.
- Need penmanship practice? Have your child write the vocabulary words – in print or cursive – in their best penmanship.
➡️ Need more handwriting resources? Hop over to my handwriting and copywork section to find a variety of helps.
