Much to my {enormous} surprise, I’ve gotten many emails in the last month asking if I’d write more about our homeschool days and our life in general.
I’m floored. Really.
I feel like we live a fairly typical homeschool life, if there is such a thing. Until recently, it hadn’t really dawned on my to write about my homeschool life much. We certainly aren’t a Pinterest-worthy crowd here at the Hill House. I stay shocked that anyone would be interested, actually.
Getting to Know Me Better
But on the other hand, if you’re a faithful reader here at Mama’s, it might be nice to know the person & family behind all of these worksheets and printables.
These are just a few of the questions I’ve been asked in the last while:
What do I look like? Do my kiddos use my own printables? Do they just sit around and do worksheets all day? What do you cook for supper? How do you store your crafts? Where do you order your books? What do you use for history? Did Handwriting Without Tears really work for your children? What do you do with your littles during school? How do you get your laundry done? When do you find time to blog? What’s your favorite book in the Bible? What’s your favorite app on the iPad? Can you write about some of the things you do during the week? Like your read alouds or the snacks you give your kids?
And the list goes on and on. 😉
While I’m completely flabbergasted that anyone wants to know those details, I’m happy to post a few of those things every week or two.
A Few Details From Our Week
My almost 4-year-old Sadie worked in her My Color the Shapes Book, which she loved. She finished it in about 15 minutes and wanted to know where the next one was. So I guess I’ll need to make a follow-up booklet.
My almost 6-year old (6 on Saturday!) is thriving in All About Reading Level 1. In fact, I’m writing a post next week on how successful she’s been in reading, and I’m certain it’s because we finally tried All About Reading with her. This is a picture of her practicing her word cards. She thinks it’s fun to practice them. That makes my homeschooling mama’s heart so happy.
I’m working on a new Themed Resource Packet that will be published in about 2 weeks. Any guesses as to the topic? 🙂
Lastly, I’m diving into this new ebook. In the past few months, I’ve loosely kept track of how much food our family throws away and it makes me cringe. I was thrilled when Carrie from Springs Bargains emailed me about her new project. She’s one of those people that I’d love to live next door. From Garbage to Gourmet is on sale for only $4.99 through Thursday, so go ahead and click over to purchase if you’re interested in buying it for a cheaper price.
What kinds of things are you up to at your house this week?

Maybe I’m feeling emotional, but I saw Sadie’s name and could hear you saying it in my head, and it made my eyes get all teary because I can’t wait to see you soon. (((HUGS)))

Love getting to know you better! Don’t you love when your kids love doing something homeschool related. Yesterday we had a snow day but my son Sammy wanted to do his math work because its fun!
