Plants and flowers are a favorite topic that we study year after year in our homeschool. There are some themes that just never grow old!
I have found that studying bees, the water cycle, pond life, the human body, and other nature topics multiple times during the elementary years provides for a lovely and gentle science education.
ETA in 2022: This post was originally published in June 2013! I’ve updated the packet below with fresh fonts and layouts plus added print AND cursive!

Plants and Flowers Handwriting Practice
We incorporate quite a bit of vocabulary into our studies so my children will be familiar with plant terms.
This set of plant-themed handwriting worksheets contain the vocabulary words that I’ll reinforce in the coming week.
The words are perfect for my Early Kindergartner who is still working on correct letter formation, as well as my first grader who is still working to decode words and figure out spelling rules.
My Early Kindergartner will complete 1-2 words each day, while my first grader will complete one whole page each day.
By studying vocabulary words, we incorporate much learning – word meanings, spelling, handwriting practice, and phonics. Vocabulary words are essential in our unit studies!
