*** The 2017-2018 version will be posted by 5/22/2017!
A couple of years ago, I finally figured out a way to easily keep track of our homeschool attendance. I’m fortunate to live in a state where there are only a few homeschool requirements, however keeping track of attendance is one of those.
For years, I just had an awful system of writing dates on my personal calendar or (worse yet) writing the days on scrap pieces of paper.
Yes, bad. I know…
But then I had the bright idea to make a homeschool attendance record that I could print front to back. Now I’m only keeping up with one piece of paper.
Perfect!
Homeschool Attendance Record for 2016-2017
This attendance record is a life-saver for me. It helps me plan during the summer, but also helps keep me on track during the school year.
I just print it out on card stock, front to back. I then keep it inside my planner, which is always with me.
It’s so simple to use, because I thrive on simple.
Here are some tips for using this attendance record in your own homeschool:
→ Place a check mark in the days your children complete school.
→ If you need to keep track of multiple kiddos, just create a key. For example, Child #1 is a check mark. Child #2 is a circle. Child #3 is a triangle.
→ If you already know you won’t do school for big chunks of time (vacation, for example), go ahead and cross those off your calendar. It makes it easier to see the big picture.
→ Beside Total Days: Write the total school days completed for the month.
→ Beside Cumulative: Keep a running tally of the total school days completed for the year. Just add on the days each month.
One of the best features of this type of attendance record: Once we get to the hard months of February and March, I can easily look back and see how many days we’ve completed.
There’s something about that visual reminder that is so affirming and inspires me to keep on trudging along until the end!
This calendar runs with July-December 2016 on one side and January-June 2017 on the other.
Make sure you print it double-sided so you only have to keep up with one piece of paper!

Oh, thank you so much for sharing! I need simple & this will do the trick. Love your way of tracking different kids with different symbols!
Thank you for stopping by, Amy! Yes, I LOVE simple. 🙂
Thank you for creating this! I used this form for the first time this past school year, and I appreciate the simplicity of the form and only having one sheet of paper for it. The space is sufficient for marking days we do school, as well as if I need to mark it as “holiday,” field trip” or “vacation.”
I’m so glad you can use it, Julie! And YAY for only having to keep up with one sheet of paper…
Thank you so much for doing these! I forgot I had seen them before until I read your newsletter. I am gearing up to start Kindergarten this year. I plan to do 6 weeks on, 1 week off. It will be perfect to see how we are doing. Thanks again!!
How exciting! Enjoy your Kindergarten year – one of my favorites! 🙂
Thank you for these….. I love simple. I used these last year and it was a HUGE help. I make my own planner 🙂 Thank you for all you do !!

Lauren, this is beautiful. I LOVE simple!! Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂
Oh I’m so thrilled you can use it in your own homeschool! Enjoy the coming year! 🙂
I love your attendance sheets! I have actually been using them for planning, as well. I mark off the days or weeks we plan to take off from school, then I can put the math lesson numbers or science chapters onto each date/week to make sure that we cover it all. Then I can tweak it if I want to do special math or science activities with holidays or take out lessons that aren’t needing as much in depth study in order to finish our school year within our planned time frame. Thanks!
Such a smart way to use it to work with your family. 😉 Thanks for sharing!
Thank you again for creating this! This will be our third year using this form. I am putting together our stuff for this coming school year and I was hoping that you had created one for this year.
SO appreciated! 🙂
Oh you’re so welcome! That thrills me to pieces that you can use it every year! Thanks for a sweet comment. 🙂
