I’m so excited to be back with y’all on You Tube this week! It’s been awhile!
During my You Tube season, I try to post a new video 3-4 times each month, usually at the beginning of the week.
This week, I’m sharing with you a very simple writing activity that I do with my Kindergartner and First Grader a couple of times each week.
Simple Writing Activity for Kindergarten and First Grade
You are going to love this simple writing activity! You can expand it for a variety of ages and stages, plus you can use it with any book on your bookshelf.
It’s practically no-prep for mom – all you need is a book, paper, and a pencil!
So easy!
You’ll find links to all of the items I mention in the section below this video.
And make sure you click on the red subscribe button in You Tube so you can follow along with me each week when I post a new video!

I definitely need to do more writing with my kids. I taught Kindergarten and I did that with them quite a bit. But at home I sometimes I feel like I plan too many things in a day. I’m really going to be creating space for the things like writing, reading, playing games and more hands on activities this coming year. Thanks for the great ideas.

Oh yes…planning too many things is the story of my life! And then when we don’t get to all of the things on my list, I feel like we haven’t been productive.
But I KNOW that is not true!
Best wishes as you brainstorm and ponder of next year! 🙂

We love Handwriting Without Tears Draw and Write Notebook! There’s room for drawing and nice handwriting lines! Thick paper too 😉 During our read alouds she draws and afterwards we form a summary sentence together about the chapter.

Theresa, I realize you wrote this comment two months ago, but I’m just now coming back to it.
I looked up the HWT Draw and Write notebook and I LOVE it! I just ordered it along with some HWT paper. I can’t wait for my 1st grader to use it! She just wasn’t ready to transition to “older kid” paper yet.
Thank you for the suggestion!!
Warmly,
Lauren
