This Spring Word Wall post was originally published in March 2017. I’ve updated it in a major way! Here’s the original post:
Before I had the baby, I gathered a few ready-made worksheets and printables for my little girls to work on during our (very sporadic) school days. As I was putting together the resources I wanted them to work on, I realized that I had very few Spring printables for them to complete.
I had to fix that!
My Kindergartner and 2nd grader really enjoy working on File Folder Word Walls. Since there wasn’t a Spring-themed word wall in my collection, I got busy creating one!
In case you’re new to File Folder Word Walls, I’ll give you a bit of history.
We have a very small homeschool room, with an even smaller amount of wall space. I loved the idea of a word wall, but we didn’t have the space to put a vocabulary list on the actual wall.
So with a little brainstorming, I decided to put those themed vocabulary lists in a file folder format.
It’s worked beautifully for us!
Spring File Folder Word Wall
This Spring File Folder Word Wall is just at the right level for your first or second grader. It would even be fun for your 3rd grader, but it would certainly be review for them.
In addition to a colorful spring vocabulary list, I’ve added 12 printable pages that can be easily tucked into the file folder for storage.
Take a peek at all of the wonderful resources you’ll find in this download:
► 2 colorful lists of Spring Words, which include a picture for each word; includes 32 words total – One set of file folder lists is more print-friendly.
Please NOTE: There are 3 lists included in this download. 2 of the lists are exactly the same except for the picture that represents ‘Easter’. On one page, a cross represents the word ‘Easter’. A secular option is also available, in which the word ‘Easter’ is represented by an Easter basket with eggs. Print only the page that applies to your homeschool or classroom.
► Colorful cover page and black and white cover page options
► Spring File Folder Tab – glue on for easy recognition
► ABC Order – choose 6 words from the list and alphabetize
► Adjectives – choose adjectives to describe the words from the word wall
► Nouns – choose a word from the word wall to complete each phrase
► Writing Sentences – use the given spring word to write your own sentence; includes 2 pages
1 page includes the Christian version of ‘Easter’, another optional page includes the secular version. Print only the page that is applicable to your homeschool or classroom.
► Picture Matching – match each picture with the correct word from the list; includes 2 pages
► Syllables – use the word wall to write words with the same number of syllables
► Seek and Find! – use the words from the list to answer the questions
► Beginning Letters – write the words from the list that have the same beginning letters
► Word Matching – match each word with the correct picture from the list; includes 2 pages
Complete instructions for assembly are included in the download, as well as a few tips.
NEW for March 2020!
Some of you don’t have the lack of wall space that I do and would benefit from the actual wall cards.
Since this is such a frequent request, I am updating all of the Word Wall with File Folder Activities to include the actual large wall cards.
► 32 Spring Word Wall Cards – One set has a fun background, and the other set is more print-friendly. Choose what is best for your situation.
Please NOTE: I have included a Christian Easter cross to represent the word ‘Easter’, and also a secular easter egg basket.
If you’re a homeschooler, the File Folder activities are a fun independent activity! Plus, all of the worksheets can be stored inside the file folder for easy clean up after the school day is finished!
If you’re a teacher, this file folder word wall would be a neat addition to your literacy center! You could also use for early finishers, for small group work, or you could even send them home as a fun change of pace for homework!
Please note that this packet is for personal use for one family only OR for classroom use with one teacher only.
