My 6 year-old is really into word searches right now! She’s still very much a beginning reader, but she does not let that stop her from working on difficult word searches.
Word Searches are a great way to sneak reading into her everyday life. I’d consider her a bit of a reluctant reader, so these activities offer her a fun way to practice!
So due to her request, I created a couple of word searches this weekend.
Each word search has words that go vertically and horizontally – there are not backwards or diagonal words.
Topics in this 5-page packet include:
- Fall/Autumn
- Babies
- Crayon Colors
- School Supplies
- Ways to Travel (transportation)
If you have a young learner who also loves this style of puzzle, make sure you visit Mama’s Word Searches page.

Dawn
Hi, My son would love these! For some reason I cannot download them. I tried to do a temporary Microsoft Word yesterday but it isn’t working. Could you teach me how to make them, by chance? Thank you so much for all of your hard work!

Hey Dawn – the issue is fixed and you should be able to download them successfully now. 🙂 Thanks for your patience!
Amanda
I love that these are in lowercase. Thanks!

So glad you can use them, Amanda! My 6 year old daughter needs lots of practice with lowercase. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
